The Bromley Court Hotel

Bromley Hill, Bromley BR1 4JD, UK – 020 8461 8600

Went for lunch. Nice venue, gardens relaxing and overall a delightful ambiance. Food was well presented and tasted as good as it looked if you choose the right options. Overall lunch at the Bromley Court Hotel was a pleasant experience and certainly an experience I will be having again in the near future. Probably the only negative was that the staff could be friendlier to their guests. Not that they were rude but didn't feel that this was the job they wanted to do.

Fab staff, lovely grounds, nice breakfast, decent priced bar. But the rooms can be a bit of a mission with going up and down several stairs yet all on the same floor. Some rooms haven't all been updated- not sure if they're staying turquoise or going corporate dark, but still nice amenities minus a cold a/c that's hard to get just right in summer for the price you pay.

Travelodge London Bromley

37 London Rd, Bromley BR1 1DG, UK – 0871 559 1856

Clean friendly service. No air con in rooms, very warm rooms, fans are available in your room, but doesn't really help, having windows open note on main road so traffic noise. Hairdryer irons etc can be obtained from reception. Housekeeping did just walk in on a couple of occasions despite do not disturb sign on door. Food and bar on site, reasonable rates. Comfortable beds. Clean bathrooms n rooms. Walk in bathroom no bath shower only.

Staff attentive and friendly. Housekeepers very good. The reason I won't go back or recommend is the weather has been 29%and no air con Its been painful and fans don't chill a room they just blow around the warm air. They are noisy at night so you can't have them on. It's been ridiculously hot throughout my 4 days.

Avis Hotel

33 Rodway Rd, Bromley BR1 3JP, UK – 020 8460 4033

I've stayed here a few times, I've always had a good night's sleep and would recommend it. The staff are friendly, the rooms are good, with modern TVs, free WiFi, tea/coffee facilities, beds comfortable. Breakfast is good, evening meals and bar available Its sited on a quiet road, carpark a bit small but, free parking on the road outside.

The building itself is so beautiful, you walk into the main reception and it is well lit, a mirror vending machine, to the left of the reception is a gorgeous waiting area , to the right of the reception leads you to the breakfast room which is beyond impressive, tables set beautifully and the full English... don't get me started, its so good. Staff are happy to take requests for specific things such as boiled / scrambled / poached eggs, bacon well done and grilled tomatoes. The rooms are fantastic, spacious and well heated with comfy beds. The linen is actually really nice. Daily cleaning of the rooms and they even provide you with a wake up call if requested. the check in process is always very professional and the staff are very polite and friendly! With train connection to London just a short walk and the main town a little distance away from the hotel you will certainly find that this accommodation is well worth trying out if your traveling for business or leisure.

Pubs, Gastro Pubs and Bars

The British Queen

427 Crofton Rd, Locksbottom, Orpington BR6 8NL, UK – 01689 869560

This is a really nice local pub recently refurbished serving quality ales and great food. It has an outdoor dining area too with bar service offered here. Prices are reasonable for the area but plenty of choice available on their summer menu

Go there as a treat. Staff always very friendly and efficient but a shame they don't do more in the way of "specials". The a la carte is interesting but once you've been there a few times I struggle but that may be me. Quality of food and presentation excellent but not cheap. Give it a go !

The George

29 Hayes St, Bromley BR2 7LE, UK – 020 8462 1120

Very nice pub with good choice of drinks. Haven't tried the food, but what I saw looked good. Lovely designed outside seating area, large trees providing shadow and atmosphere. Clean and spacious. Friendly staff. Highly recommended.

We held a sizable family event at The George and Del, Miro, Nick and team did a fantastic job helping us cater for the large number of guests we had coming. The buffet food was very high quality, we had lots of very positive comments from guests and the pub is a lovely setting. When food ran low Miro and his chefs were able to rustle up more food at very short notice and for a fixed budget. Thank you Del, Miro and team.

The Chancery

90 Bromley Rd, Beckenham BR3 5NP, UK – 020 8650 5744

Very nice little pub. Good food & reasonably priced. Bar staff v helpful albeit a bit slow. Not a long wait for food. Good find!

Lovely pub! Always busy! Great to watch the match. Really friendly staff. Nice beer garden to enjoy in the sun

Travel Super Market search and compare prices for hotels all over the world. Could also be useful for you. I This said I was told by a hotelier that the way to get cheap rooms is to ring up the week before and ask for the weekend rate. You can usually get an absolute bargain as they will trying to book all the rooms that they have not sold! Could be worth a try!

Nice friendly place

If you would like something truly different you might like to have a look at Airbnb. These are mostly B and Bs provided by people on a very informal basis. The may have a spare room, a yurt, a cottage or a barge with space they can receive guests for a night or a month! The website is highly professional. You can really see what you are going to get. Very well worth a look. Airbnb also show 'conventional' B&Bs as well. Enjoy!
